That being said, a study in Neuroscience Letters from 2011 observed “significant decrease in body weight gain” among laboratory rats after 14 consecutive days of CBD injections. Researchers injected rats with 2.5 and 5 mg CBD per kg of body weight, with the former producing “more pronounced” results than the latter. This led researchers to the conclusion that CBD “has the ability to alter body weight gain, possibly via the CB2 receptor.”
Let’s take a look at some other perceived properties of hemp extract that some have said may work to help produce CBD weight loss results. There is a lot of misinformation out there, so it pays to exercise due diligence and separate the myths from the facts.
Suppresses Appetite: Myth or Fact?
Many patients report increased appetite with the use of medical marijuana. This is due to THC content, which is a known appetite stimulator. Of course, medical marijuana and hemp-derived CBD oil are two different things.
In terms of the latter, there is little evidence – and virtually no scientific studies – that explicitly report on the use of CBD and weight loss. That said, it does appear that CBD helps to activate a process called “browning.” This is when certain types of white lipid stores, called white fat, accumulate to create a bulkier physique. Adults with high muscle content typically have higher volumes of brown fat which is a leaner, less dense type of fat.

In a study CBD encourages store of brown fat in white fatty tissues. It appears that CBD may also support the breakdown of fat and other lipids. It may also initiate a process called thermogenesis, wherein food metabolizes faster due to a rise in temperature.
So, does CBD oil help with weight loss? According to this (and other similar) studies, it appears that it might.
